The Prince of the Lost Empire

Taláos Anekh
High Prince of Atlantis
.
“What strange a fate it be, here I stand on the sandy hills where once great pillars stood.
My home now lost in myth and legend, yet here I stand - like born anew”
"I wake to smoke and light, freezing air caressing my skin.
A harsh light, like a small sun, shining into my eyes.
The end of an eternal dream.
A never-ending slumber.
How long may it have been?"
"The world I awake to seems so foreign,
.
"I was born a prince to the High King
1673 years after the discovery of the great crystal.
Second in line to the throne of the Vasila - the Royal Palace.
Yet, Fate wove me a different tale..."
.
Plátōn once relayed a tale from his ancestor who heard about a great city
Beyond the Pillars of Herakles that sank into the ocean long ago,
Told by an Egyptian Priest who showed him the event as carved on Temple walls.
But oftentimes it is omitted that the ocean was one of both sand and water...

In the North-Western edge of the Sahara desert, in the country of Mauritania,
lies a geological structure that has baffled geologists for decades.
It is known as the Richat Structure,
also known as the Eye of the Sahara, or the Eye of Africa.
But up until 9793 BCE, it was known as Atalanesh - "The White Rock formation"
A name, Plátōn translated as "Atlantis" - the Island of Atlas some 9500 years later.
.
In 9853 BCE,
Eventually, it all proved too much.
It begun with the collapse of a major part of the city, 3 years prior to the Great Calamity.
The collapse caused the crystal mines beneath the city to be flooded with water from the lake,
resulting in the deaths of hundreds of workers.
The loss of the mines was a heavy blow to the political stability of the city.
But worse yet, it distracted the major families from working on their contingency plans.
Resources had to be allocated to the families of the lost workers and for repair attempts.
But it was already too late.
The constant flow of water into the mines threatened the integrity of the very rock beneath the city.
